As a child, Masamune spent most of his time secluded from the world–basically abandoned by his parents due to their time dedicated to work. Though he was raised properly on his own, the boy was still detached from those whom he was supposed to ‘love,’ and eventually began to resent them.
During his teen years, Masamune practically lived alone due to his parent’s constant absence from their home. Given that most of his time was spent indulged in books, the boy found shelter within his school’s library. Though his adolescent years weren’t exactly the highlight of his life, a special character in his life brought back his sense of purpose–a sense of life. His name was Ritsu Onodera. With this boy, Masamune began to experience an emotion he had never felt in his life: love; however, this love was short lived due to a misunderstanding with the other party–leaving the boy alone once again.
Broken and torn by his high school love and his parent’s divorce, Masamue began to live a promiscuous life–indulging himself in both women and drinking. To help cope with his feelings, he began to sleep around with a close friend of his, Takafumi Yokozawa, during college. Still not satisfied with himself or his thoughts, Yokozawa brought up the idea of joining a publishing company due to his experience with literature. Now, as a working adult, Masamune finds himself as editor-in-chief of the shoujo manga department at Marukawa Publishing–mostly in charge of the finest mangakas Japan has to offer.
Despite his stoic outward appearance and harsh attitude, Masamune is a dedicated worker–always putting his all into everything ranging from his office life to his personal life. His perseverance and consistency allow him to earn the highest title of respect from his colleagues and even from his superiors. Though there are rumors that Masamune is a playboy, he is actually quite picky when it comes to love–especially when his preference has not changed since the day he met Onodera.
