Soulmates weren’t something Masamune always found himself thinking about. It was too much of a hassle for him to fester over mundane thoughts–especially when it came to his future partner. He would rather focus on the present than the predetermined destiny. What’s so great about worrying who you’ll end up with? Wouldn’t you rather want to be surprised? He would ask himself that as he buried his face in the mountains of books. With the constant arguing between his parents and the horrid atmosphere that came from it, Masamune questioned the idea of the “fate” dictated by the countdown on their wrists. How was it possible that people who were meant to be together, always found themselves arguing day in and day out? It angered the teen; his blood boiling with every second wasted with that on his mind. Choosing to ignore the countdown on his wrist, the boy continued on with his day as usual–hiding away in his corner of the library.

Despite the winding countdown, the boy still finds himself denying the concept of ‘soulmates.’ The thought was just too nonsensical; too ABSTRACT for him to even comprehend. What good would a soulmate be to you if it all goes down the drain? He felt himself seething with anger; the knuckles of his hands turning white as he clutched his bag tightly. The chatter and laughter of other students irritated him, causing his blood to boil even more. What the hell is it with everyone wanting a soulmate? Why do I even need to participate with these silly games? DISDAIN dressed his features as he made his way towards his classroom–narrowed eyes shooting to those around him.

Time began to wound down to its final minutes–anxiety rising within the teen as he clutched his bag tighter; his feet dragging against the floor with every step. What was he going to say them? What if they end up not liking him? What if their relationship turns out to be like his parents? Will they cherish him the way that he would cherish them? His earlier thoughts began to dissipate as new questions began to unfold. Although he has had relationships in the past, none of them would compare to the one he would finally call ‘his’ and be sure of it. His pulse quickened as he searched around; his eyes darting from classroom to classroom to speed up the process.

As the clock finally struck, Masamune felt his heart skip a beat as his eyes landed on the boy before him; his body freezing over. A slight shudder going through his body as he involuntarily found himself moving. Blood began to rush to his cheeks as he neared the boy–the palms of his hands growing sweaty and his mind spiraling downward. His initial thought wasn’t that his soulmate happened to be a boy, but rather, is he really the one for me? Outstretching his hand towards the other, Saga lightly tapped him on the shoulder; his voice hoarse, but loud enough for the stranger to hear,
“Um, hey…there.”
