▸ ‘ & Stranger;

      The last thing Miyagi expected was for the other to have heard him, let alone reply to his murmured words. It nearly stunned the cigarette right from out of his mouth, his lips parting just a little and his slanted gaze broadening ever so slightly into a look of astonishment !!

      For the sake of speaking clearly this time, Miyagi removed the cigarette from his mouth with a trail of white fumes to follow. “Ah ━ that was sort of my point,” He replied. He offered a neutral look, although beneath the surface he was feeling a little awkward having been caught staring.

      “Still, you’re familiar to me… What line of work do you partake in, if you don’t mind me asking?” He leaned forward in his seat, appearing awfully casual now with his arm braced against the small table. He seemed fiercely determined to solve the riddle, ‘else it might bother him for the remainder of his day.

                                        “I see. Sorry, I couldn’t hear
everything clearly.”

           Raising a hand to rest against his cheek, Takano peered at the other as his expression changed–a light chuckle slipping past his lips. Though it was a surprise even to the editor that he was able to hear the stranger speak, Takano somehow managed to remain unfazed by the other’s stare. The fumes emitting from the other’s smoke brought up the desire to light one for himself; however, the editor was able to brush that feeling away, not wanting to pollute the cafe anymore than it currently is. As brown eyes trailed back and forth from the book to the man, Takano took a deep breath before he spoke; his tone nonchalant,

                        “I’m an editor at, ironically enough, Marukawa
                           publishing. I don’t exactly think we’ve met
                             before. I usually can remember faces.”
